8/5/2023 0 Comments Plush bar minneapolisI don’t know if it had sat out for too long in the canister or barely had any coffee in it. I’m also not fussy with coffee but the coffee tasted of nothing, so much so I had to say it was undrinkable. What was meant to be hot was cold and what was meant to be cold was warm. For $18, the breakfast was one of the poorest I have ever had in terms of what was on offer and value for money. The restaurant is gorgeous with great atmosphere and a lovely bar and restaurant. The only thing letting down this hotel is breakfast. The construction work beginning at 7am and waking me up was unfortunate but not the fault of the hotel and temporary. Friendly staff and I felt my diamond status was appreciated as I was automatically upgraded to a wonderful junior suite. I was staying for business and must say the exterior and interior is wonderful. Most importantly to me, was that it was a great quiet location, and the hotel never felt loud or crowded. Parking below the hotel is a nice touch to make parking and driving easy. I did a corner king lofted ceiling - loved the insanely high ceilings and the exposed brick with views of the neighborhood. The staff was super helpful and pleasant. I wanted to ship some of the furniture right to my house. The renovation of the building is beautiful and the lobby is so nicely appointed, with little meeting areas for groups or to get some work done, lots of nice natural light, a great restaurant and bar. I brought my bike and they let me bring it in and store it in my room, and the bike trails along the river and downtown are right next to the hotel. It's been a while since I've stayed in a chain hotel, over Covid I tended toward small boutique hotels or the airbnb rental. Even with the bad arrival and check in process, I wish I could have stayed longer this is now my favorite hotel in DT Minneapolis.… Long check in process…was midnight before we finally got to the room. He says he’s going to call his manager and eventually comes back to tell me he “found” a room for us. More typing and then he tells me the hotel was overbooked and he doesn’t have a room for me. Once at the desk the one guy working said very little to me and typed for literally 5 minutes before acknowledging I was standing there waiting. Called front desk to come let me in and waited a while until another guest in the lounge took pity on me and came to open the door. Arrived 11:30pm, tired from a long drive, to find I couldn’t enter lobby without a room key. What I didn’t like: booked my room by phone before arriving. Spacious room layout and refreshing decor. Room design is so well done, sliding door between bedroom & dressing area/bathroom made it easy to get dressed/shower without disturbing others I was traveling with. Every other hotel makes water so difficult and expensive to get and there never seems to be enough-this solution is brilliant. One thing I most appreciated was the filtered water & ice machine available on every floor, and the empty glass bottle provided in the room for filling with water as needed. Deco is so enjoyable (exposed original beams & timbers, brick mixed with Scandinavian elements), thoughtful touches everywhere.
